Job summary

Experis seeks an experienced 3rd Line WINTEL Engineer to join a Stevenage-based team supporting critical infrastructure in a high-security environment. This fully on-site role focuses on Windows Server, AD, DNS, and VMware.

You will build and maintain Windows Server environments, create automation scripts, manage gold images, perform patching, and provide incident resolution within SLAs in a regulated setting.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and related services.
• Strong Active Directory, DNS and WSUS administration skills.
• Experience with VMware virtualised environments and storage techs.
• Scripting and automation using PowerShell or similar tools.
• Background in secure or highly regulated environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review Windows work requests with emphasis on quality and speed.
• Build, configure and deploy Windows Server environments, virtualised on VMware.
• Create and maintain build docs, work instructions and automation scripts.
• Build, rack and deploy physical servers in customer data centres.
• Maintain and update gold build images.
• Patching, upgrades and lifecycle management for Windows Server.
• Produce capacity management reports and present at reviews.
• Investigate and resolve infra issues within SLAs.
• Support testing and implementation across projects and services.
• Identify risks and dependencies that could impact delivery.
• Ensure compliance with change, release, configuration, security, and service processes.
• Maintain security and integrity of network services.

WINTEL Engineer (3rd Line)

Location: Stevenage
Working Pattern: Fully On-Site
Clearance: High Level Security Clearance Required
Contract: Initial 6-Month Contract
Rate: £550 per day

The Opportunity

Experis is seeking an experienced 3rd Line WINTEL Engineer to join a team of skilled 2nd and 3rd Line support professionals based in Stevenage. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-profile, security-cleared environment, supporting critical infrastructure and a demanding user community.

This is a fully office-based position due to the nature of the support requirements. You'll work closely with customers, stakeholders, and technical teams, delivering expert support and infrastructure engineering services while ensuring high levels of system availability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and deliver Windows-related customer work requests with a focus on quality and rapid turnaround.
• Build, configure, and deploy Windows Server environments, primarily virtualised on VMware platforms.
• Create and maintain build documentation, work instructions, and automation scripts.
• Build, rack, and deploy physical servers within customer data centres and computer rooms.
• Maintain and update gold build images.
• Perform Windows Server patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
• Produce capacity management reports and provide updates at engineering review meetings.
• Investigate, assess, and resolve infrastructure and customer issues within agreed SLAs.
• Support testing and implementation activities across projects and operational services.
• Identify and escalation risks, issues, and dependencies that could impact delivery.
• Ensure compliance with change, release, configuration, security, and service management processes.
• Maintain the security and integrity of network services in line with operational and security requirements.

• Previous experience in a similar 3rd Line Infrastructure / WINTEL Engineering role
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience working within secure or highly regulated environments

Working Hours

• 37 hours per week
• Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 19:00
• Typical shift patterns:
  • 07:00 - 15:30
  • 10:30 - 19:00
• No regular weekend working
• Overtime may be available, including occasional weekend work
