Job summary

VIQU IT in Fareham is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join an established IT team, focusing on BAU support across secure, highly available infrastructure environment. The role covers Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, networking and hybrid infrastructure, with on-site work in Fareham five days a week.

The ideal candidate will have strong 3rd line troubleshooting, experience with PowerShell or scripting, and familiarity with backup, disaster recovery and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience with Windows Server environments and Active Directory
• VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter administration and troubleshooting
• Networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls

Responsibilities

• Provide 3rd line BAU support and resolve complex infrastructure incidents
• Administer and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory and VMware environments
• Troubleshoot server, virtualization and network issues
• Support LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls
• Monitor infrastructure, backups, patching and disaster recovery
• Perform root cause analysis and implement technical fixes
• Maintain infrastructure documentation and drive continual service improvement

3rd Line Support Engineer – 12-Month Contract – Fareham

My longstanding customer is seeking an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join an established IT team, providing BAU support across a secure and highly available infrastructure environment.

The role is heavily focused on 3rd line troubleshooting, infrastructure administration and operational support, covering Windows Server, VMware, networking and hybrid infrastructure.

Essential Technical Experience from the 3rd Line Support Engineer:

• Strong Windows Server experience.
• Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Networking knowledge – TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs and firewalls.
• Experience supporting on-premises and virtualised infrastructure.
• Infrastructure monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.
• Strong 3rd line troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• PowerShell or scripting/automation experience.
• Azure or AWS experience desirable, not essential.

Key Responsibilities of the 3rd Line Support Engineer:
