Job summary

Modis International Ltd is seeking a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer for an onsite Derby role. You will provide advanced Windows Server administration, AD, and VMware expertise in a secure enterprise environment, with on-call support and DV-eligible clearance.

The role focuses on incident resolution, platform improvements and collaboration with wider technical teams to ensure service reliability and modernisation of the IT estate.

Qualifications

• Current SC Clearance with eligibility for DV clearance.
• Proven experience in 3rd Line Infrastructure or Managed Services.
• Extensive Microsoft Windows Server administration experience.
• Strong Active Directory expertise (GPOs, DNS, LDAP, Kerberos, delegation, trust).
• VMware and virtualization technologies experience.
• Exchange administration experience.
• PKI and certificate management.
• PowerShell scripting and automation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced support across a large-scale Microsoft-based infrastructure.
• Act as escalation point for complex technical issues and support platform improvements.
• Deliver expert-level troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Support and maintain critical Windows Server environments.
• Prioritize multiple tasks and projects while coordinating with teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a highly secure, enterprise-scale environment supporting business-critical services. The Role

As a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer, you'll provide advanced support across a large-scale Microsoft-based infrastructure, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues while supporting ongoing platform development and improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing expert-level troubleshooting and incident resolution.
• Delivering solutions and workarounds to minimise service disruption.
• Supporting and maintaining critical Windows Server environments.
• Managing and prioritising multiple technical tasks and projects.
• Collaborating closely with customers, stakeholders and wider technical teams.
• Reviewing service performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Supporting infrastructure deployments, upgrades and enhancements.
• Participating in an on-call support rota.

Skills & Experience Required

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate strong technical expertise combined with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Essential Experience

• Current SC Clearance with eligibility to undertake DV clearance.
• Proven experience operating in a 3rd Line Infrastructure or Managed Services environment.
• Extensive Microsoft Windows Server administration experience.
• Strong Active Directory expertise, including GPOs, DNS, LDAP, Kerberos, delegation and trust relationships.
• VMware and virtualisation technologies.
• Exchange administration.
• PKI and certificate management.
• PowerShell Scripting and automation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
