Job summary

SoCode Limited is seeking a 2nd Line IT Engineer to support on-premises infrastructure and servers. You will manage physical servers, virtual environments, and core Microsoft technologies, with a focus on VMware and a transition to Proxmox.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware, networking, and backup/recovery, with collaboration across the IT team to drive infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

Experience in 2nd line IT support in on-premises environments.
Strong Windows Server and Active Directory knowledge.
Familiarity with VMware/vSphere and Proxmox environments.
Solid networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
Experience with backup and recovery technologies.
Ability to troubleshoot hardware and server hardware components.
Exposure to Microsoft 365/Azure services is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provide 2nd Line technical support across hardware, software and infrastructure.
Maintain and support on-premises servers and infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain physical and virtual server environments.
Support VMware environments and assist with transition to Proxmox.
Troubleshoot server, network and infrastructure issues.
Work with Windows Server, Active Directory and core Microsoft technologies.
Manage hardware, server builds, upgrades and maintenance.
Collaborate with wider IT team on infrastructure projects.
Escalate complex issues and drive to resolution.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and infrastructure records.
