Job summary

Stellar Select Limited is seeking a 2nd Charge Underwriter in Watford to assess mortgage applications and manage cases from application through to completion. The role can involve second charge or residential underwriting experience, with a focus on sound lending decisions within risk appetite.

You will build relationships with broker partners and internal teams while ensuring timely updates and accurate case recording. This position offers development opportunities within specialist lending.

Qualifications

• Proven underwriting experience within mortgage lending.
• Experience underwriting second charge and/or residential mortgage applications.
• Good understanding of FCA regulation and responsible lending.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite applications in line with policy, criteria and risk appetite.
• Assess borrower circumstances, affordability and supporting documents to make lending decisions.
• Manage a pipeline from application to completion and update brokers regularly.
• Build relationships with mortgage brokers, solicitors and third-party suppliers.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with FCA regulation and company policy.
• Maintain high service levels while meeting deadlines.
