Stellar Select Limited is seeking a Mortgage Underwriter in the North Hertfordshire area with hybrid working 2-3 days in the office. The role involves assessing commercial and residential mortgage applications for professional landlords, ensuring quality, credit risk alignment and policy compliance.

The candidate will prepare concise lending summaries and may approve within delegated authority or escalate to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting commercial and residential mortgage loans.
• Lending mandate/delegated authority experience.
• Ability to work within tight time constraints.
• Strong relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess new lending applications for commercial and residential mortgages to evaluate quality, credit risk and policy compliance.
• Prepare lending summaries and make recommendations to senior credit decision-makers.
• Support post-sanction administration and ensure MI requirements are met.
• Maintain accuracy and data integrity across records and processes.
• Contribute to strategic projects and initiatives to improve governance and control.
