Job summary

Reach South Academy Trust is seeking a passionate Secondary SEND Teacher for GAIL Academy in Gloucester. You will deliver inclusive, personalised learning for pupils with MALD, across a broad curriculum and through Developer, Voyager or Adventurer pathways.

You will collaborate with families, therapists and external professionals to meet EHCP outcomes, create safe, structured classrooms and inspire learners to reach their full potential at a brand‑new school opening in January 2027.

GAIL (Gloucestershire Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Gloucester for children and young people aged from 5 to 16 years who have a MALD profile.

We are a new school which is opening in January 2027 which will have 80 pupils upon opening in years 1-8 and expanding to 200 pupils by September 2028. All about the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and highly motivated Secondary SEND Teacher to join our growing team at GAIL Academy, a specialist school supporting pupils with Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD). GAIL provides an inclusive, nurturing and aspirational learning environment where every pupil is supported to flourish, develop independence and achieve their full potential.

As a class teacher, you will take responsibility for leading and developing your class group, delivering a broad, engaging and personalised curriculum across all subject areas. Depending on the needs of your pupils, you will teach within our Developer, Voyager or Adventurer pathways, adapting learning to meet a wide range of communication, cognition, sensory and developmental needs. Our pathways are designed to support pupils at different stages of learning, from those requiring a highly personalised, semi-formal curriculum to those accessing a curriculum aligned to the National Curriculum with a strong focus on communication, independence and preparation for life beyond school.

You will work closely with families, therapists and other professionals to ensure that every pupil's individual needs are met. Using personalised learning plans and EHCP outcomes, you will create a safe, structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes communication, personal development, confidence, resilience and positive wellbeing.

The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusive education, committed to delivering outstanding teaching for children with SEND, and able to inspire pupils through creative, practical and meaningful learning experiences. About the School

Gloucestershire Academy for Inspirational Learning is a specialist school for 200 pupils aged 4-16 opening at the start of 2027, with pupils phasing into the school across three years.

The school’s designation is Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD) and will cater for autistic pupils, those with speech and language differences, SEMH and those with learning differences in their cognitive profiles.

The school will be based in the Wheatridge area of Gloucestershire in a brand-new purpose-built building with outstanding facilities specifically tailored for SEND learners.
