Job summary

Reach South Multi Academy Trust is seeking a reliable Site Assistant to join GAIL Academy in Gloucester. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will help ensure the school remains safe, welcoming and well‑maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The role involves practical site tasks, health and safety checks, setting up rooms, monitoring security and supporting day‑to‑day operations. Previous school maintenance experience is helpful, but practical, willing learners are encouraged to apply.

Location: GAIL, Wheatridge East, Abbeydale, Gloucester, GL4 5DF
FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade G Pt 12 - 14; £29,064 - £31,022
Contract Type: Permanent, full time
Contract Hours: 37 Hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and enthusiastic Site Assistant to join the team at GAIL Academy. Working closely with the Site Manager, this role will help ensure that our school remains a safe, secure, welcoming and well‑maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors. As a specialist school committed to providing a nurturing and inclusive setting where every child can flourish, the Site Assistant will play an important part in supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the academy and maintaining high standards across the school site. The successful candidate will undertake a range of practical site duties, including supporting maintenance tasks, health and safety checks, setting up rooms and resources, monitoring the security of the premises, and responding to the needs of the school throughout the day. This is a varied and fast‑paced role that involves regular interaction with children, staff, families and contractors, requiring a friendly and professional approach at all times. Previous experience of working within a school or educational setting would be beneficial; however, we would welcome applicants who are practical, willing to learn, take pride in their work and are passionate about contributing to a positive learning environment where every pupil feels safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.

Interviews will be held at The PEAK Academy in Dursley or The Springfields Academy in Wiltshire. We recognise that this is further away than GAIL Academy and may present a travel challenge for some candidates. If attending in person would be difficult, please let us know and we will be happy to explore alternative arrangements where possible.

About the School

Gloucestershire Academy for Inspirational Learning is a specialist school for 200 pupils aged 4-16 opening at the start of 2027, with pupils phasing into the school across three years.

The school’s designation is Moderate and Additional Learning Difficulties (MALD) and will cater for autistic pupils, those with speech and language differences, SEMH and those with learning differences in their cognitive profiles.

The school will be based in the Wheatridge area of Gloucestershire in a brand‑new purpose‑built building with outstanding facilities specifically tailored for SEND learners.
