Job summary

Nomios is seeking a SOC Analyst to join our 24/7 Security Operations Centre in support of UK growth. You will monitor, investigate and escalate security events across multiple customer environments using platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Defender XDR, CrowdStrike, and more.

This role is home-based with occasional visits to the Basingstoke office. The position offers 12‑hour shifts (2 days, 2 nights; 4 days off) and opportunities for career progression into Threat Intelligence, SOC

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in a SOC, or 3+ years in infra with security exposure.
• Experience triaging and investigating security alerts.
• Understanding attacker behaviours, TTPs and malware chains.
• Ability to recognise indicators of compromise and unusual activity.
• Hands-on with at least one major security platform (SIEM/EDR/XDR).
• Familiarity with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Salesforce, JIRA).
• Familiarity with Windows event logs and basic log analysis.
• Understanding of core protocols: DNS, HTTP, SMB, LDAP.
• Operating systems knowledge: Windows, macOS, Linux.
• Ability to read logs from multiple sources and correlate data.
• Awareness of MITRE ATT&CK framework and SOC best practices.
• Experience with SIEM/XDR platforms and threat detection concepts.
• Coding or scripting knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and triage alerts across SIEM, EDR or XDR, email and web security platforms.
• Investigate suspicious activity and determine escalation needs.
• Follow SOC runbooks and investigation workflows.
• Build clear timelines of activity and maintain investigation notes.
• Escalate complex cases to Senior/Lead Analysts with context.
• Review vulnerability management output and provide basic prioritisation insight.
• Take part in threat hunting and improve detections, dashboards and runbooks.
• Provide clear written updates for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in shift handovers to maintain continuity.
