Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced 132kV Commissioning Engineer to support major HV/EHV projects across the UK. The role covers commissioning activities up to 132kV, testing primary and secondary equipment, and ensuring protection and control systems are correctly configured.

The ideal candidate will have strong HV/EHV substations experience, read SLDs/schematics, and be comfortable on live sites. UK-wide deployments and project-based opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience commissioning HV/EHV substations or grid infrastructure.
• Experience with 132kV equipment and protection systems.
• Ability to read SLDs, schematics and protection drawings.
• Comfortable working on live project sites and on UK-wide deployments.

Responsibilities

• Carry out commissioning activities on HV/EHV systems up to 132kV.
• Test and commission primary and secondary electrical equipment.
• Commission protection and control systems, including relays and schemes.
• Complete functional testing, point-to-point checks and secondary injection testing.
• Support transformer, switchgear, CT/VT and auxiliary system commissioning.
• Review commissioning documentation, test sheets and protection settings.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during testing and energisation.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Protection Engineers, SAPs and site teams.
• Support pre-energisation checks and final handover documentation.
• Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with client, DNO and industry standards.
