Job summary

AstraZeneca is offering a 12-month University Industrial Placement Student (UIPS) in Biometrics – Clinical Information Scientist in Macclesfield, UK. The role focuses on clinical information science, literature searching, and evidence handling within Oncology Biometrics.

You will gain hands-on experience, supervised by Biometrics colleagues, and contribute to evidence-based decision making in drug development.

Qualifications

Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree; 1 year in industry starting Sept 2027.
Degree subject must be within biological/biomedical/life sciences, pharmacy, information science, or related discipline.
Interest in oncology and evidence-based decision making.
Awareness of biomedical literature databases or an interest in developing literature searching skills.
Good organisational skills to plan, manage, and deliver small pieces of work.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle scientific information accurately.
Good collaboration and teamworking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication; able to explain findings clearly.

Responsibilities

Support Oncology Biometrics Information Practice by identifying, organising, interpreting information.
Develop literature searching and evidence synthesis skills using biomedical databases and digital tools.
Capture, organise, and maintain knowledge so information can be retrieved and used by project teams.
Contribute to internal team activities and communicate insights to stakeholders.
