Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate 1:1 tutors to support children aged 5-16 in Alternative Provision across North Yorkshire. The role offers flexible 2-6 hours per day around your availability for the full academic year.

You'll deliver English and Maths tuition (face-to-face or online), adapt lessons to EHCP/PEP targets, and work with Virtual Schools, carers and education professionals to provide consistent support and monitor progress, celebrating successes along the way.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people, particularly those with SEMH needs or who are Looked After Children (LAC).
• Understands the challenges vulnerable learners can face.
• Can adapt their teaching style to suit individual needs.
• Is patient, reliable and passionate about making a difference.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire.
• QTS, QTLS or another teaching qualification is desirable but not essential, we welcome applicants with relevant experience and the right attitude.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition in English and Maths (face-to-face or online).
• Plan and adapt lessons to meet EHCP and PEP targets.
• Build confidence, motivation and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Work alongside Virtual Schools, carers, social workers and education professionals to provide consistent support.
• Track progress and celebrate every success, no matter how small.
