Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate 1:1 Tutors to support children aged 5-16 in alternative provisions across North Yorkshire. The role offers flexibility to work 2–6 hours per day over a full academic year and requires delivering tailored tuition, primarily in English and Maths, either in person or online.

Ideal candidates will have experience with vulnerable young people, be adaptable to individual needs and work collaboratively with schools, carers and social workers to monitor

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, tutoring or supporting vulnerable young people.
• Ability to adapt teaching to individual needs and learning styles.
• Experience working with young people in care or SEMH needs.
• Willingness to travel across North Yorkshire using own or provided transport.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised tuition sessions, primarily in English and Maths, face-to-face or online.
• Design and adapt lesson plans to meet EHCP/PEP targets.
• Monitor progress and contribute to educational planning.
• Collaborate with Virtual Schools, carers and education settings to ensure joined-up support.

Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them re-engage with education?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for compassionate and flexible 1:1 Tutors to support children aged 5-16 in alternative provisions across North Yorkshire through personalised tuition.

The role is contracted for a full academic year, whilst giving you the flexibility to choose how many hours you wish to work per day, ranging from 2-6 hours.

The Role

As a Tutor, you will provide tailored educational support to young people in care, many of whom may have experienced interruptions to their schooling. Your role will focus on helping students rebuild confidence in learning and achieve their individual educational goals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering individualised tuition sessions, primarily in English and Maths, either face-to-face or online
• Designing and adapting lesson plans to meet individual needs, including EHCP and PEP targets
• Encouraging engagement, confidence and motivation through supportive teaching approaches
• Working closely with Virtual Schools, carers, social workers and education settings to ensure joined-up support
• Monitoring and recording student progress and contributing to ongoing educational planning

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from individuals who:

• Have experience teaching, tutoring or supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those in care or with SEMH needs
• Understand the unique challenges faced by children in the care system
• Can adapt their teaching methods to suit different abilities and learning styles
• Are patient, reliable and committed to helping young people succeed
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire

A teaching qualification such as QTS or QTLS would be advantageous but is not essential. We welcome applicants with relevant experience and a strong commitment to supporting young people.
