Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking compassionate 1:1 Tutors to support children aged 5-16 in Alternative Provision across North Yorkshire. The role offers flexible 2-6 hours per day across a full academic year, with options for face-to-face or online tuition.

You will plan and adapt lessons to meet EHCP/PEP targets, build confidence, and work with Virtual Schools, carers and education professionals to provide consistent support.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring children aged 5-16.
• Ability to tailor tutoring to SEMH/LAC needs.
• Patient, reliable and passionate about helping learners.

Responsibilities

Tradewind Recruitment is looking for compassionate, adaptable 1:1 Tutors to support children aged 5-16 in Alternative Provision across North Yorkshire.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help students rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and achieve their potential through personalised tuition.

The role is available for the full academic year, with the flexibility to choose 2-6 hours of work per day around your availability.

What You'll Be Doing

As a 1:1 Tutor, you'll work closely with young people who may have experienced disrupted education, helping them make meaningful progress in a supportive, one-to-one environment.

• Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition in English and Maths (face-to-face or online).


• Plan and adapt lessons to meet EHCP and PEP targets.


• Build confidence, motivation and a positive attitude towards learning.


• Work alongside Virtual Schools, carers, social workers and education professionals to provide consistent support.


• Track progress and celebrate every success, no matter how small.

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Has experience teaching, tutoring or supporting children and young people, particularly those with SEMH needs or who are Looked After Children (LAC).


• Understands the challenges vulnerable learners can face.


• Can adapt their teaching style to suit individual needs.


• Is patient, reliable and passionate about making a difference.


• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire.


• QTS, QTLS or another teaching qualification is desirable but not essential, we welcome applicants with relevant experience and the right attitude.
