Job summary

TeacherActive are recruiting a caring and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a student in a Liverpool secondary school. The role focuses on helping the pupil access lessons, stay engaged, and build confidence in a supportive setting.

You will work with teachers and the SEND team to create an inclusive learning environment and adapt your approach to meet the student’s needs across KS3/KS4, with a strong emphasis on relationship-building and safeguarding. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people, ideally within a school setting.
• 1:1 support or SEND support experience.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within a Secondary School setting.
• Help the student access lessons and engage positively with classroom activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Adapt your approach to meet the student’s individual learning needs.
• Support academic progress across KS3 and KS4 where appropriate.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student.

Pay: £95 £150 per day

What does the role involve?

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting an individual student throughout their school day, helping them feel confident, included and engaged in their learning.

No two days will be exactly the same, but your support could make a real difference to a young person's educational experience.

You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider school team to:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student within a Secondary School setting
• Help the student access lessons and engage positively with classroom activities

The most important thing is your ability to make a student feel supported, understood and capable of succeeding.

We're looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting
• Has previous experience providing 1:1 support, SEND support or general classroom assistance
• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Is patient, understanding and able to adapt to different learning needs
• Can build positive relationships with students and staff
• Has strong communication and behaviour management skills
• Is reliable, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about supporting young people
• Is confident supporting students across the Secondary age range

Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) would be particularly beneficial, although we also welcome applicants with transferable experience and a willingness to learn.
