Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is working with an outstanding Primary School in NE6 that is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in reception with SEN. The role begins on 3rd March 2025 and continues for the rest of the academic year.

This position is for the full academic year with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience

The role involves supporting pupils' learning on a 1:1 basis. The successful candidate should be resilient and possess excellent relationship-building skills.

This role will involve:

• Supporting a pupil with SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
• Managing challenging behaviour positively, proactively, and consistently.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote progress.
• Preparing resources for learning activities and lessons.
• Supervising pupils during break and lunch times as required.
• Engaging actively with pupils to support their learning and build rapport.
• Liaising with parents and outside agencies regarding progress.

This role requires:

• An Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service; we can process a new one if needed).
• A recognized Childcare qualification.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• A resilient, proactive, and positive attitude.
• Experience supporting pupils in a school setting, ideally with 1:1 support experience.
• High enthusiasm, energy, and positivity.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential.
• An enthusiastic approach and willingness to engage and form positive relationships.
