Job Description

Prospero Teaching is working with an outstanding Primary School in NE6 that is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil with SEN in Early Years. The role begins on 3rd March 2025 and continues for the rest of the academic year.

This position is for the full academic year, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.

Pay rate is negotiable depending on experience

The role involves supporting pupils with their learning on a 1:1 basis. The successful candidate should be resilient and possess excellent relationship-building skills.

The school offers a supportive, inspiring, and enjoyable environment for both students and staff. This role provides an opportunity to make a positive impact on children's lives daily.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting a pupil with SEN on a 1:1 basis.
  • Managing challenging behaviour positively and proactively.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss strategies and learning activities.
  • Preparing resources for learning activities and lessons.
  • Supervising pupils during break and lunch times as needed.
  • Engaging actively with pupils to support their learning and build rapport.
  • Liaising with parents and outside agencies regarding pupil progress.
Requirements:
  • Enhanced DBS (preferably on the Update Service; we can assist in processing a new one if needed).
  • A recognized childcare-based qualification.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Resilient, proactive, and positive attitude.
  • Experience supporting pupils in a school setting, ideally 1:1 support.
  • High enthusiasm, energy, and positivity.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people's development and education.
  • Enthusiastic approach and willingness to engage with pupils.
