Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS2 pupil in Whitley Bay. The role focuses on individual learning, confidence building and enabling access to the curriculum within a welcoming school environment.

You will work with the class teacher and SENDCO to tailor activities, monitor progress and support social development. DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one is preferred.

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Are you a caring, patient and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference to a child's educational journey?

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Whitley Bay is seeking a dedicated Key Stage 2 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to a pupil, helping them to access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential in the classroom.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a KS2 pupil, supporting both their academic progress and social development. You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCO and wider school team to ensure the child receives the tailored support they need to thrive.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil within a KS2 classroom.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage engagement, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Support the pupil's social and emotional development.
• Work closely with teaching staff, parents and external professionals where appropriate.
• Record and monitor progress, providing feedback to the class teacher.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience working with children in a school, childcare or support setting.
• Knowledge of supporting pupils with additional learning needs is advantageous.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
• Ability to inspire confidence and encourage positive outcomes.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
