Job summary

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch is seeking a patient 1:1 Male Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a pupil in Wakefield (WF15). The role offers long-term/day-to-day continuity and may be full- or part-time, depending on school needs.

You will provide focused one-to-one support, assist with classroom tasks, and help the pupil access learning while promoting confidence and positive behavior throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• Experience in education, childcare, or a similar setting would be beneficial.
• A patient, supportive and consistent approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with a pupil.
• Reliable and committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on update service, or willingness to apply.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
• Assist with classroom activities, instructions and learning tasks.
• Encourage the students to participate positively in lessons and school routines.
• Help develop confidence, independence and appropriate social skills.
• Support positive behaviour and maintain a calm learning environment.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team.
• Monitor engagement and provide relevant feedback on the pupil's progress.
