Job summary

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Male Teaching Assistant to support a pupil at Wakefield (WF15). The role focuses on one-to-one guidance, helping access learning, build confidence and progress throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate has experience with children or young people, and a patient, reliable approach with strong communication and safeguarding awareness. DBS on update service or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with a pupil.
• Reliable and committed to supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
• DBS certificate on Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support tailored to the pupil's individual needs.
• Assist with classroom activities, instructions and learning tasks.
• Encourage the pupils to participate positively in lessons and school routines.
• Help develop confidence, independence and appropriate social skills.
• Support positive behaviour and maintain a calm learning environment.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider support team.
• Monitor engagement and provide feedback on progress.
