Old Cleeve First School invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to join our supportive, inclusive classroom team. You will work closely with the class teacher to strengthen access to learning and maintain a positive, safe environment.
The role is fixed-term until 31 October 2028, 32.5 hours per week during term time plus inset days, with an abated salary of £19,033 to £19,331 per year. Start date ASAP; Grade 1 SCP 3/4.

Working under the direct instruction of teaching and senior staff, you will be based primarily in the classroom alongside the teacher to support access to learning for pupils and assist with classroom management.
As part of our wider inclusion ethos, you will play a key role in providing high-quality support that helps remove barriers to learning, supports emotional, social, and academic progress, and ensures every pupil feels safe, valued, and included.
Supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety, wellbeing and access to learning. Encourage children to develop independence, resilience and positive relationships, helping them to engage fully with school life and achieve their potential.
Work alongside class teachers to support high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum. Deliver and reinforce phonics teaching and provide targeted interventions in reading, writing and mathematics, helping pupils to make strong progress and develop confidence as learners. Support classroom activities, adapting approaches where necessary to meet individual needs and maximise engagement.
Attend to pupils' personal, social, emotional, health and welfare needs, including first aid where appropriate. Provide nurturing pastoral support that helps children develop confidence, resilience, self-regulation and positive relationships. Using trauma-informed and restorative approaches, support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, manage emotions effectively and engage successfully in school life. Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and inclusion, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and able to thrive within our school family.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent and encouraging role model. Develop a strong understanding of individual needs and implement personalised strategies to remove barriers to learning, ensuring every child can flourish within our school family.
Work under the direction of teachers and the SENDCo to support individual pupils in achieving their learning, pastoral and developmental goals. Contribute to the delivery of provision outlined within Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), supporting pupils to work towards their identified targets. Play an active role in helping children achieve their individual ADPR targets and bespoke support plans, ensuring that provision is delivered consistently and effectively.
