Job summary

Witheridge Church of England Primary Academy is seeking a 1:1 SEND TA to support a child with SEND. The role involves working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO, providing tailored support to enable access to the curriculum and build confidence.

The position is fixed term until approx. 31 August 2027, 22.5 hours per week (4 hours 30 minutes daily, 8:45am–1:30pm, Monday to Friday with a 15-minute unpaid tea break) starting ASAP, with in-service training and ongoing support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEND to help them access the curriculum and develop confidence.
  • Support the child's learning, emotional regulation, self-esteem, social inclusion and overall wellbeing.
  • Build a positive, supportive relationship with the child and encourage increasing independence.
  • Participate in in-service training and ongoing support to address the child’s individual needs.
  • This is a temporary fixed-term position subject to attendance and review of the child’s SEND needs.

Role Overview

Salary: £13.47 (Grade C)

Hours Per Week: 22.5 (4 hours 30 minutes hours each day, 8:45am - 1:30pm Monday to Friday with a 15 minute unpaid tea break)

Status: Fixed Term (until approx. 31/08/2027)

Closing Date: 12 Noon on Wednesday 21st October 2026

Interview Date: Week commencing Monday 2nd November 2026

The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to provide 1:1 support for a child with SEND, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, access the curriculum and develop their confidence and independence. The role will involve providing tailored support to meet the identified SEND needs of the children, supporting their learning, emotional regulation, self-esteem, social inclusion and overall wellbeing.

A key part of the role will be building a positive and supportive relationship with the child, while encouraging them to develop increasing independence and participate fully in learning and wider school life. Appropriate in-service training and ongoing support will be provided to enable the successful candidate to understand and respond effectively to the child’s individual needs.
