Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs in a Warrington primary school. This is a full-time, long-term role starting October 2026, within an inclusive classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will have SEND experience (ASD, ADHD, SEMH or similar), strong communication and teamwork skills, and a patient, nurturing approach. Level 2/3 TA qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH or similar).
  • Ability to support a pupil 1:1 within a mainstream class.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and pupil well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support in line with the pupil's targets.
  • Support emotional regulation and engagement throughout the day.
  • Adapt learning materials to improve accessibility.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals.
  • Monitor progress and feed back to staff as appropriate.
  • Assist during transitions and break/lunchtime activities.

SEND Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support Role)
Location: Warrington
Start Date: October 2026
Contract: Full Time, Long-Term

A primary school in Warrington is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs within a mainstream classroom.

The school prides itself on its inclusive approach and strong SEND provision, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent 1:1 support in line with the pupil's EHCP targets
  • Support the child's emotional regulation and engagement throughout the school day
  • Adapt learning materials to ensure accessibility
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals
  • Monitor and record progress, feeding back to staff where appropriate
  • Support transitions and unstructured times such as break and lunch
The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Have experience working with children with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH or similar)
  • Be patient, resilient and nurturing in their approach
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Be confident implementing behaviour and support strategies
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
