Job summary

Quantum Scholars is looking for a patient, experienced 1:1 SEND/SEMH Maths Tutor to provide personalised Maths tuition for a student in Yeovil. This in-person role requires adapting teaching to meet the student’s needs and fostering a calm, supportive learning environment.

The tutor will build a strong professional relationship with the student, support progress in numeracy and reasoning, and work with parents, schools and other professionals while maintaining safeguarding boundaries.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching Maths at secondary level.
• Understanding of the Secondary Maths curriculum.
• Experience working with SEND/SEMH students.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one Maths tuition tailored to the student’s needs.
• Supporting the student across relevant areas of the Secondary Maths curriculum.
• Planning and delivering engaging, accessible lessons.
• Adapting teaching methods, resources and pace to suit learning needs.
• Identifying gaps and providing targeted support to progress.
• Breaking down concepts into clear steps.
• Developing numeracy, reasoning and independent learning skills.
• Supporting revision and assessment preparation.
• Encouraging confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards Maths.
