Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a SEND Learning Mentor in Exeter, Devon to provide personalised 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs in local schools. The role runs full-time during term-time, with hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The ideal candidate may have SEND experience or be entering education, and should have GCSEs in Maths and English, plus a patient and proactive attitude. A full UK driving licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous SEND experience is desirable but not essential.
• Transferable experience from care, youth work, mentoring, or family SEND exposure.
• Patient, resilient, and proactive approach is required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
• GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English are required.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own car are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 mentoring and support to pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles.
• Support the implementation of EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans.
• Promote independence, confidence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.
• Support communication, behaviour regulation, and personal development.
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCo, and support staff to ensure consistent support.
