Job summary

Prospero Teaching is looking for dedicated SEN Tutors to provide 1:1 support to students across Barnet. We are supporting learners who are out of mainstream education and have diverse SEND needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication challenges.

Deliver tailored tuition, build positive relationships with learners and families, and collaborate with schools and authorities. DBS checks are required or applicants must be willing to obtain one. Right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and young people with SEND.
• Strong understanding of ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties.
• Ability to deliver personalised learning and adapt resources effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• QTS or a relevant teaching qualification (desirable).
• Experience delivering EOTAS, alternative provision, or home tuition (desirable).
• Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies (desirable).
• Experience working with Looked After Children (LAC) (desirable).
• Training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Makaton, PECS, or Zones of Regulation (desirable).
• Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition within community or home settings (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, tailored 1:1 tuition sessions that meet each student's individual educational and developmental needs.
• Support students with SEND who may have experienced significant disruption to their education.
• Adapt lesson plans and teaching strategies to accommodate a range of learning profiles and EHCP targets.
• Promote confidence, independence, and positive engagement with learning.
• Use creative and differentiated approaches to meet academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, schools, local authorities, and other professionals.
• Monitor, record, and report on student progress and outcomes.
