Job summary

TLTP Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1) for a Year 4 pupil with ASD in Redbridge LEA, starting September 2026. This long-term role focuses on supporting academic, social and emotional development, building trust with the pupil, and coordinating with the class teacher and SENCO.

The ideal candidate will have experience with ASD, strong behaviour management skills, and a patient, calm approach.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD and/or additional needs.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour with positive behaviour strategies.
• Patient, resilient and able to stay calm under pressure.
• Firm but fair with clear expectations and boundaries.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Committed to supporting academic, social and emotional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with ASD.
• Implement behaviour support strategies consistently.
• Encourage engagement in classroom learning and social interaction.
• Promote independence while offering guidance and reassurance.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO and external colleagues.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and behaviour.
