Academics Ltd in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work 1:1 with children who have additional needs, focusing on speech and language support across Early Years and KS1/KS2. Prior experience with SEND is essential, with preference for those who have worked with language-related needs or who have used Makaton or PECS.

• Experience with pupils with speech and language needs.
• Experience in Early Years or KS1/KS2 settings.
• Ability to adapt and modify learning materials.
• Experience using Makaton or PECS.

Responsabilidades

• Be aware of the needs of pupils with speech and language communication needs.
• Maintain a high level of support for the child’s needs.
• Be willing to learn how to adapt and modify learning materials.
• Provide a high level of support to enable access to the planned Early Years curriculum.
• Help the child to develop social skills and appropriate interactions.
• Work closely with the class teacher and follow guidance on support.
• Support the child at lunchtime and break times as directed.
• Develop relationships with other children to encourage participation.
• Follow school policies and treat school matters as confidential.
• Plan and review regularly with the class teacher.
• Meet with the SEN coordinator and contribute to Personal Plans.
• Liaise with professionals external to the school and attend Inset training.
