Job summary

Academics is seeking experienced teaching assistants to work 1:1 with children who have additional needs in Portsmouth. Previous experience with SEN is essential, particularly for speech and language needs, with exposure to Early Years or KS1/KS2 settings.

You will understand pupil needs, adapt materials, and work closely with the class teacher and SEN coordinator to support Personal Plans, including lunchtime supervision and social skills development.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with special educational needs is essential.
• Experience with speech and language communication needs is preferred.
• Ability to adapt materials and plan with teachers for Personal Plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with additional needs.
• Adapt and modify learning materials to meet individual plans.
• Support pupils at lunchtimes and breaks as directed.
• Liaise with class teachers and SEN coordinator for Personal Plans.
• Attend inset days and contribute to pupil development reviews.
• Encourage social interactions and positive behaviour with peers.
