Job summary

Academics Ltd is seeking 1:1 Teaching Assistants for temporary full-time and short/long-term roles across client primary and SEN schools in the Stoke-on-Trent area. The positions require consistent Monday–Friday support and travel to partnership schools arriving by 8:30am.

Successful candidates will support learners with SEN, including ASC and ADHD, use tailored strategies to promote regulation and independence, and work closely with teachers and SENCO to maintain an inclusive, safe learning

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
• Calm, resilient, and able to remain consistent under pressure.
• Able to build trusting relationships and implement clear structures and routines.
• Full-time availability (Mon-Fri) to provide consistent support.
• Willing to travel to Stoke-on-Trent by 8:30am for on-the-day cover requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality 1:1 support/interventions for learners with additional needs.
• Support learners to develop essential skills and engage actively in learning.
• Implement tailored strategies to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external agencies when needed.
• Assist the class teacher in adapting classroom activities and resources for the learner.
• Manage behaviour and engage learners with their own learning.
• Create and foster an inclusive and safe learning environment for all learners.
