Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a patient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a secondary student with SEN in Kirkham, starting September 2026. The role is based in a high-achieving school, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM, term-time only, 30–32.5 hours per week, with a full-time, long-term contract and potential permanent progression.

You will deliver tailored academic, social and emotional support across KS3–KS4, adapt lessons with teachers, support emotional regulation and independence, and

Qualifications

Experience supporting children or teenagers with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Warm, calm and resilient approach with de-escalation and listening skills.
Confidence with core secondary subjects (English, Maths, Science).
Qualifications in teaching support or relevant care/mentoring background are advantageous.
Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain before September.

Responsibilities

Personalised 1:1 Support: tailored academic, social, and emotional guidance for KS3–KS4.
Curriculum Adaptation: differentiate tasks and promote active participation.
Regulation & Wellbeing: support emotional regulation and focus strategies.
Promote Independence: build confidence, resilience, and self-directed study.
EHCP Monitoring: collaborate to track progress against EHCP milestones.
