Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Reception pupil in a specialist SEN setting in South Shields. You will work Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with potential for a permanent role.

The role requires patience, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours while helping the pupil access the school day, establish routines, and build confidence within the setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN or additional needs.
• Confidence supporting challenging behaviour.
• Patient and nurturing approach.
• Ability to stay calm in difficult situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Reception pupil in a specialist SEN setting.
• Help the pupil access the school day and develop routines.
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management.
• Attend a trial day if invited; assist with transitions and safety.
