Job summary

Aspire People in Redbourn is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across primary and secondary SEND needs. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with a view to permanent appointment after a temporary period and ASAP start.

You will work with pupils with ASD, ADHD and other SEN needs, providing one-to-one and small-group support, helping engagement and emotional development, and collaborating with teachers.

School Setting: SEN - Primary & Secondary

We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Redbourn, supporting pupils across both primary and secondary age groups.

The school supports children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD) and ADHD. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

• Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and additional SEN needs.
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
• Helping pupils engage with learning and classroom activities.
• Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a calm learning environment.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team.

About You

• Patient, caring and understanding.
• Calm and consistent when supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Confident working with children and young people.
• Passionate about working within a specialist SEN environment.
• Reliable, punctual and professional.
• Able to build positive relationships with pupils.
• A strong communicator and team player.
• Previous experience working with SEN, ASD or ADHD is desirable, although candidates with transferable experience and the right attitude will also be considered.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, with the opportunity to become permanent following a successful temporary period. An ASAP start is available.
