Job summary

St Andrew's CofE First School in Birmingham is seeking a fixed-term Teaching Assistant to support one pupil with special educational needs on a 1:1 basis. You will assist with care, education and welfare under supervision, helping access the curriculum in line with specialist plans.

The role is term-time only (28.75 hours across five days plus five INSET days) and requires a satisfactory DBS check. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting inclusion is essential.

Qualifications

• Be responsible for the care, education and welfare of a pupil with special educational needs under supervision.
• Assist the pupil to access the curriculum with specialist provision plans.
• Support inclusion and safeguarding throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the care, education and welfare of a pupil with special educational needs under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Enable the pupil to gain the fullest possible access to the curriculum.
• Ensure the pupil follows the specific provision arrangements set by education specialists.
