Milk Education are recruiting for a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs at a specialist SEND school near Leatherhead, Surrey. This full-time role involves providing tailored 1:1 support to help learners engage with learning, regulate emotions and build positive relationships.

Qualifications

• Recent and relevant experience with children or young people with SEMH or SEND.
• Previous experience in a specialist SEND school, alternative provision, mainstream school, youth work or care setting is desirable.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
• A passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Support emotional regulation and implement behaviour support strategies.
• Encourage engagement in lessons and learning activities.
• Promote inclusion, confidence and independence.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
• Prepare resources and adapt learning activities where required.
• Help create a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.
