Job summary

Sherborne Primary School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a named child. You will support learning, emotional and social development both in class and during activities, working closely with teaching staff to implement strategies and ensure the child remains safe and included.

The role is fixed-term from January 2027 to August 2027, 27 hours per week over 39 weeks (term time plus inset days). DBS check and Right to work in the UK are required.

Responsibilities

• Work with teaching staff and parents to put learning strategies into practice and adapt them
• Work with the class teacher, SENCO and wider staff to keep the child safe, supported and included
• Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Assist with record keeping and observations as required
• Carry out safeguarding responsibilities, which may include administering first aid or supporting an upset child

A one-to-one post supporting a single named child at Sherborne Primary School, offered as a fixed-term contract running to August 2027. The work centres on the child's learning, emotional and social development, both in class and during other school activities, working closely with the class teacher and the SENCO. Hours are about 27 a week over 39 weeks, term time plus inset days. Visa sponsorship is not available and the post starts in January 2027.
