1:1 Outreach Tutor – SEND/SEMH Support

Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking an Outreach Tutor to support learners accessing EOTAS and Alternative Provision in Wokingham and surrounding areas. This is a 1:1 role focusing on re-engagement with education, confidence building and positive learning routines.

You will work with learners who may have SEND/SEMH needs, including anxiety or challenging behaviour, delivering personalised activities during term time and within normal school hours.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is essential.
• Experience in outreach, tuition, intervention, mentoring or 1:1 learning support is desirable.
• A patient, calm and empathetic approach to supporting young people.
• Confidence working with learners who may be anxious, disengaged or display challenging behaviour.
• QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching, tutoring, mentoring or youth work experience is desirable, although candidates with strong SEND/SEMH experience will also be considered.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Ability to travel to learners across Wokingham and the surrounding areas.
• Availability during normal school hours.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 outreach support to young people accessing EOTAS and Alternative Provision.
• Supporting learners to re-engage with education in a calm, safe and supportive environment.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with individual learners.
• Supporting young people with a range of SEND and/or SEMH needs, including anxiety, school refusal, autism, ADHD and behavioural challenges.
• Planning and delivering personalised learning activities based on each learner's needs, abilities and interests.
• Supporting learners to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Providing academic support across subjects such as English, Maths and Science where appropriate.
• Adapting your approach according to the learner's individual needs, engagement and presentation.
• Encouraging learners to develop positive routines and work towards their individual educational goals.
• Monitoring engagement and progress and providing regular feedback.
• Working collaboratively with Quantum Scholars and relevant professionals involved in the learner's education and support.
