Malvern College is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a named pupil with ASD and ADHD, ensuring access to learning and wellbeing throughout the school day.

Working with the SENCo and teaching staff, you will provide academic, pastoral and personal support, assist with organisation and study skills, and help implement the EHCP provisions while upholding safeguarding and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in educational or pastoral settings.
  • Experience with pupils with complex needs including ASD.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

1:1 LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our Learning Enhancement Department and provide tailored support to a named pupil with complex needs. The pupil has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); their difficulties are related to these neurodevelopmental conditions. This post will commence in September 2026 and is temporary for 1 year. This is a full time, term time position and will be based at Malvern College

This is a rewarding role for an individual who is committed to supporting pupils to access learning fully, develop independence and thrive academically, socially and personally.

The Role

Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCo and other professionals, you will provide individual academic, pastoral and personal support throughout the school day. The role includes in-class assistance, support with organisation and study skills, and social and emotional well-being.

You will play a key part in ensuring that the provision outlined in the pupil's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is implemented consistently and that the pupil's welfare, and wellbeing is promoted at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one academic support to enable full access to the curriculum
  • Offer in-class assistance, including note-taking and task clarification
  • Support preparation for homework, coursework and assessments
  • Promote the pupil's social, emotional and psychological wellbeing
  • Encourage independence while recognising when support is needed
  • Liaise effectively with teaching staff, Learning Enhancement colleagues, pastoral and medical teams
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records and contribute to reviews and meetings
  • Uphold the school's policies, values and high standards of professional conduct
Essential
  • Have experience working with young people in an educational and/or pastoral setting
  • Have experience of working with pupils with complex needs
  • Have experience of working with pupils with ASD
  • Be caring, patient, reliable and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
  • Understand the importance of professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
Desirable
  • A degree in Psychology, Education or a health-related field
  • Experience in SEN, one-to-one support, or personal care
  • Experience of supporting pupils with occupational therapy exercises
  • Experience of working in an independent or boarding school environment.
  • Experience of supporting pupils in the KS3 and KS4 curriculum

This post involves contact with children and the post holder will be responsible for children. The post holder will be considered to be in regulated activity.
