Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 EHCP support in a Preston secondary school. You will assist a Key Stage 3/4 student with tailored academic and pastoral help, aligning with their timetable and EHCP targets.

The role requires experience with teenagers with additional needs, Level 2/3 TA qualifications or relevant degrees, and awareness of neurodiversity strategies. A DBS check is preferred and safeguarding duties apply.

Qualifications

• Experience working with teenagers (11–16) with additional needs or SEND.
• 1:1 secondary or upper-KS2 experience is advantageous.
• Patient, approachable, with strong boundaries and mutual respect.
• Familiarity with neurodiversity strategies (ASC/ADHD) and anxiety reduction techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 in-class support across a secondary subject timetable.
• Differentiate learning materials and break down complex topics into accessible tasks.
• Support emotional regulation, sensory management, anxiety, and transitions between lessons.
• Foster positive peer interactions and social inclusion.
• Track progress against EHCP targets with the SENCO and Pastoral Year Team.
• Help student prepare for GCSEs and post-16 pathways.
