A company in the aerospace sector in Bordeaux is seeking a Turbomachinery Development Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of electric pumps for cryogenic engines. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in a relevant field, experience with CAD tools, and a solid understanding of turbomachinery. Join us in democratizing space in a fun, agile, and collaborative environment.
Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Turbomachinery Development Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, development, and testing of the electric pumps of a cryogenic engine.
Drive the pump mechanical design from architecture to component design
Ensuring that detailed mechanical analysis is performed on the pump components and assembly, reviewed and meets the required standards for life and reliability targets
Developing validation/verification tools dedicated to the mechanical design and development of pumps
Supporting pump components and assembly test campaigns (configuration definition, test execution and results reviews)
Supporting the resolution of issues encountered with the pump during development and qualification
To support design iterations to pump assemblies and/or components, including manufacturing improvements to reduce the cost and lead time of components
Master’s degree or higher in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
Strong knowledge of CAD design, drafting (including GD&T), mechanisms, structural analysis and thermodynamics
Proficiency in our software tools (Siemens NX, Ansys, Python)
Proven experience in the entire product life cycle, from design to commissioning
Experience with turbomachinery and cryogenic liquid propellant propulsion systems is a plus
Understanding of space-relevant standards (such as ECSS, MIL-STD, and NASA-HBK) and regulations
