North er n Virginia Family Services (NVFS) seeks Shelter Support Specialists for the SERVE Emergency Family Shelter. This role provides 24-hour awake coverage, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment and trauma-informed care for families experiencing homelessness.

You will respond with empathy, build relationships, and collaborate with Housing Counselors to support housing stability and rapid rehousing efforts. Strong attendance and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in human services, social services, behavioral health or related fields.
• Strong attendance, punctuality and reliability.
• Fluency in English; bilingual skills a plus.

Responsabilités

• Provide 24-hour awake coverage and supervision to shelter guests.
• Foster a safe, welcoming environment with empathy and professionalism.
• Conduct shelter orientations within 24 hours of arrival.
• Support guests in housing searches and rapid rehousing goals.
• Document and report incidents per guidelines.
• Collaborate with Housing Counselors and shelter staff.
