DEPARTMENT: Natchez Transit System

REPORTS TO: Transit Supervisor

SALARY RANGE: $11.00 per hour

PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The City of Natchez Transit Driver will be responsible for providing transportation services to City passengers. The individual will provide the community and businesses with the very best economical and reliable transportation services possible.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Responsibilities will include transporting passengers to and from assigned locations; performing daily inspections and minor maintenance to the vehicles; and delivering food or supplies as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Drive a bus for transporting riders to applicable locations, including special events.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspection activities to identify maintenance records.
• Provide courier services including delivering mail, food, supplies, and other materials.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of operational records and logs.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance activities.

OTHER DUTIES

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and 1 year experience as a professional driver or driving a large vehicle.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with P (passenger endorsement)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Incumbents may be subject to fumes, odors, and extreme temperatures.
