Yahoo is seeking a security analyst to join the Paranoids FIRE team on the weekend night shift (9 PM EST to 9 AM EST, Fri-Sun). You will monitor, hunt, and respond to threats using Yahoo's internal detection platforms, SIEMs, and AI-augmented workflows to protect data at Internet scale.

Responsibilities include monitoring events, drafting incident timelines, escalating as needed, and contributing to automation and playbooks.

Qualifications

1–3 years of experience or equivalent in security fundamentals.
Interest in information security and incident response.
Knowledge of common network services and attack patterns (MITRE ATT&CK).
Experience with Windows, macOS, Linux logs and systems.
Familiarity with AI productivity tools or AI coding assistants.

Responsabilités

Monitor, triage, and analyze security events across networks, apps, endpoints, and cloud stores.
Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate log parsing and draft incident timelines.
Contain incidents and coordinate remediation with business units.
Identify repetitive monitoring tasks and help implement AI-driven automation.
Tune detection signatures and develop new alerting use cases.
Evaluate new log sources and contribute to detection engineering under mentorship.
Critically evaluate AI outputs to prevent false positives.
Support threat hunting exercises and maintain runbooks and logs.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation as needed.
