Responsabilités

• Provide technical service and support to vessel crews.
• Manage purchasing and shipping of spare parts and supplies for the vessels.
• Monitor and maintain the vessel maintenance system.
• Monitor the overall status of the fleet and coordinate vessel repairs during port stays.
• Supply and support crews during port calls.
• Travel to vessels and interview crew on service/maintenance issues.
• Maintain regular contact with suppliers and service companies.
• Manage certification processes for vessel flag and class compliance.
• Serve as stand-in for Fleet Manager and Purchasing Manager; CSO duties.

Deutsche Fischfang-Union (DFFU), located in Cuxhaven, is the oldest fishing company in Germany, with a history of more than 100 years. Alda Seafood owns 100% of the shares in DFFU.

This is a full-time, on-site Technical Superintendent role based in Boulogne-Sur-Mer, France or Cuxhaven, Germany. The position involves managing the technical operations of DFFU and Alda Seafood's fleet of fishing vessels, planning and executing vessel repairs and yard periods, handling purchasing requests (from obtaining quotations to ordering, distribution, and delivery of spare parts and supplies to the vessels), being responsible for cost planning and budgeting, and overseeing the vessel maintenance system.

• Provide technical service and support to vessel crews.
• Manage the purchasing and shipping of spare parts and supplies for the vessels.
• Monitor and maintain the vessel maintenance system.

Further tasks

• Monitor the overall status of the fleet.
• Prepare and coordinate vessel repairs during port stays.
• Supply and support crews during port calls.
• Travel to vessels and conduct interviews with crew members regarding vessel service and maintenance issues.
• Maintain regular contact with suppliers and service companies.
• Manage certification processes for vessel flag and class compliance.
• Serve on standby as a representative and vacation replacement for DFFU's Fleet Manager and Purchasing Manager.
• Act as Company Security Officer (CSO) for the fleet.

Qualifications

• Fluency in French and English (written and spoken).
• Proven experience in ship management and familiarity with fleet operations.
• Expertise in performing inspections as well as overseeing vessel maintenance and repairs.
• Previous experience in a similar role or within the fishing industry is highly advantageous.
