H.O. Penn Machinery is seeking a Technical Communicator – Power Systems to support technicians and managers across multiple branches. You will help diagnose Electric Power problems and provide proactive solutions, track issues, and liaise with Caterpillar and vendors.

The role requires strong communication skills and experience delivering technical training, with a focus on safety and reliability in power systems operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Electric Power, diesel engines, or power systems service.
• Advanced knowledge of Caterpillar engines, generators, controls, and related EPG products.
• Proficiency with CAT ET, SIS, and other diagnostic software applications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex equipment issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with technicians, customers, management, OEMs and vendors.
• Experience delivering technical training on product, safety, and diagnostics.
• Ability to build cross-department relationships and liaise with OEM representatives and vendors.

• Provide backup to other Technical Communicators, as needed.
• Provide technical assistance with EPG processes and projects that contribute to growth and development.
• Develop relationships with Power Systems groups to provide technical assistance.
• Provide technical assistance with special projects.
• Assist with training/tooling needs communication.

Technical Communicator – Power Systems H.O. Penn Machinery is hiring immediately. This position can be based from any of our branches: Poughkeepsie, NY; Bloomingburg, NY; Bronx, NY; Medford, NY; Holtsville, NY; Newington, CT. Pay: $90,000-$115,000/year Bonus Potential: 15%

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Electric Power (EPG), diesel engine, or power systems service and troubleshooting.
• Advanced knowledge of Caterpillar engines, generators, controls, and related EPG products.
• Proficiency with Caterpillar diagnostic and service tools, including CAT ET, SIS, and other technical software applications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues and develop proactive solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to technicians, customers, management, Caterpillar, and vendors.
• Experience developing and delivering technical training, including product, safety, and diagnostic software training.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and serve as a technical liaison between field personnel, management, OEM representatives, and vendors.

• Develop close working relationship with Power Systems groups (Technicians, New Sales, Product Support Sales Reps, Rental) to provide technical assistance in support of initiatives
• Provide technical assistance with special projects
• Assist with the communication of training/tooling needs
• Assist with parts stocking on new engines
• Assist with new product introductions
• Effectively improve the performance of both our internal and external technical customer by providing training.
• Conduct CAT ET, SIS and other technical related software training
• Conduct product safety training
• Conduct EPG NPI's and other product trainings

• Timely completion of any required safety training for self (including all direct/indirect reports) Adherence to all Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies Understand job risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks, such as wearing all required personal protective equipment as required by task
