University of Washington Libraries is seeking an Associate Dean, Research and Learning Services, at the rank of Associate Librarian or Librarian, with a start date anticipated in early 2027. The role leads a portfolio of ~130 staff across eight departments, reporting to the Dean of Libraries, with hybrid on-campus and remote work.

The position emphasizes strategic leadership, staff development, and data-informed decision-making, guiding teaching and learning support for a diverse UW community.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• Minimum of five years post-MLIS professional librarian experience.
• Substantial leadership experience in a large academic or research library.
• Demonstrated success in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and change management.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, and their ethical applications.

Responsabilités

• Provide visionary leadership for Research & Learning Services across eight departments.
• Lead and mentor a diverse workforce; promote inclusive leadership and professional development.
• Represent the Libraries on institution-wide committees and strategic initiatives.
• Co-chair the Seattle Operations Group to align operations with the Libraries Strategic Plan.
• Collaborate with UW Bothell and UW Tacoma to support tri-campus initiatives.
