Job summary

Overstory is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to lead the design and scaling of our data platform for AI-powered vegetation analysis. You will own the architecture and direction of the data infrastructure, enabling reliable, scalable pipelines that process satellite imagery, model inferences, and utility data at scale.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in production-grade data pipelines and systems.
• Hands-on experience with Dagster and asset orchestration in production.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the orchestration layer for scalable data pipelines.
• Design and maintain production data pipelines for geospatial and temporal data.
• Lead system design across the data platform, defining boundaries and data contracts.
• Drive service-oriented architecture and durable messaging patterns.
• Establish observability, testing, and data quality frameworks.
• Mentor engineers and set data engineering standards.
