Role Overview
The Specification Manager is responsible for developing and securing project specifications with architects, interior designers, design and build companies, and workplace specialists, while supporting projects through to delivery.
This role combines technical specification development and commercial sales, ensuring that The Acoustics Company’s products are specified early in the design stage and successfully delivered through construction.
The role will primarily focus on workspace and commercial interior projects, although opportunities across other sectors will also be developed where acoustic solutions are required.
A key part of the role is communicating The Acoustics Company’s approach to the market, ensuring that architects and designers understand how our solutions enable them to design with confidence and specify with clarity.
The successful candidate must be fluent in both English and French, as the role involves working with international design teams, contractors, and internal teams across Europe.
Specification and Design Development
- Build strong relationships with architects, interior designers, design and build companies, workplace consultants, and acoustic specialists.
- Promote The Acoustics Company’s solutions during the design and specification stage of projects.
- Assist design teams with product selection, acoustic strategy, and technical detailing.
- Deliver CPD presentations, product demonstrations, and technical briefings.
- Clearly communicate how The Acoustics Company helps designers design with confidence and specify with clarity through technical expertise and well-developed product systems.
- Support project teams in developing detailed product specifications and design documentation.
Project Development and Sales
- Convert specifications into secured projects and commercial opportunities.
- Manage projects throughout the lifecycle: design, specification, tender, order, and delivery.
- Work closely with contractors, design and build companies, and installers to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify and develop new project opportunities within the architecture, design, and workplace interiors community.
- Maintain regular engagement with key design practices, design and build contractors, and strategic clients.
Technical and Commercial Support
- Provide technical guidance on acoustic performance, product applications, and installation.
- Collaborate with internal teams including design, manufacturing, and project delivery.
- Prepare quotations, proposals, and technical documentation aligned with project specifications.
- Support the tender process and ensure specifications translate effectively into delivered solutions.
Key Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience in architectural specification sales, technical specification, or commercial interior products.
- Experience working with architects, designers, and design and build companies.
- Ability to present and position technical products within a design-led environment.
- Experience managing projects from design stage through to completion.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
Desirable
- Experience within acoustic products, interior architectural systems, or workplace interiors.
- Knowledge of commercial office fit‑out or workspace design.
- Familiarity with architectural drawings, specifications, and construction processes.
