Job summary

Socomec is seeking a seasoned software engineer to design, develop and enhance an embedded Linux-based gateway solution. You will work on back-end and front-end features, with a focus on performance, quality and maintainability within a microservices-oriented architecture.

You will collaborate with Firmware, IoT, Laboratory, Product Marketing and Design teams to ensure consistency across technical interfaces and products in the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science or software development.
• At least five years of software development experience with back-end and front-end.
• Proficiency in Rust, Angular, JavaScript/TypeScript, PostgreSQL/SQL, MQTT, HTML/CSS.

Job description

You will join a team developing embedded software solutions for products in the Power Control & Energy Performance range. The product acts as a communication gateway between several devices in the portfolio and is built on a Linux environment and a microservices architecture. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will design, develop and enhance this solution with a strong focus on quality, maintainability and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Analyse functional specifications and translate them into suitable technical solutions, requesting clarification where necessary.

• Design, develop and maintain the product’s back-end and front-end features in an embedded Linux environment, balancing performance with hardware constraints.

• Perform unit testing and contribute to integration testing to ensure software quality and prevent regressions.

• Contribute to software architecture decisions and propose robust, maintainable technical solutions that support the product’s evolution.

• Integrate the various products in the portfolio into the software platform and contribute to its technological development.

• Collaborate with the Firmware, IoT, Laboratory, Product Marketing and Design teams to ensure consistency across developments and technical interfaces.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science or software development.

• At least five years of software development experience, including hands-on back-end and front-end development.

• Proficiency in Rust, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, SQL, MQTT and HTML/CSS.

• Fluency in written and spoken French and English, for an international environment involving teams and service providers based abroad.
