Rivercell seeks a Senior Thin-film Materials Engineer to advance the hydrophobic liquid-facing surface of its microfluidic chip. You will own hydrophobic coatings, surface interfaces, and interactions with biological fluids while collaborating across biology, AI, optics, and electronics teams.

You will develop fluoropolymer coatings, optimize surface energy and adhesion, and define process windows for scalable manufacturing in a cutting-edge biotech startup environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in materials science, interface science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in polymer or fluoropolymer coatings, surface functionalization, adhesion, wetting, or liquid–solid interfaces.

Responsabilités

• Develop fluoropolymer and alternative hydrophobic coating processes for the microfluidic chip.
• Optimize coating thickness, uniformity, roughness, surface energy, contact angle, and hysteresis.
• Engineer adhesion between hydrophobic coatings and underlying chip surfaces.
• Characterize static and dynamic wetting behavior under water, oil, buffers, salts, cell-culture media and reagents.
• Study coating stability under electrical actuation, immersion, cleaning, and thermal cycling; storage and handling.
